Makers' Mums #1

Makers' Mums #1

We could all do with a bit of a pick me up and with Mother's day coming soon (March 14th - don't forget!) I thought it would be a nice idea to celebrate some makers I love and their mums!

First up is Java Bere, an illustrator, curator of homewares and all round cute human. You can find her on Instagram @javabere and browse her lovely products at www.javabere.co.uk

Java makes some beautiful cards that would be perfect for Mother's Day. I asked Java what she loves about her mum and her influence on her. 'My mum Cairistiona is a free spirit who always brought me up to see the beauty in the imperfect and to celebrate the every day. Her open attitude to life has inspired me in every part of my life and now in my work as an illustrator and curator of homewares. She's one of a kind!'

'If I were to give her a piece of jewellery for Mother's day, I would choose the Ridge bangle. I love it because of the simplicity of the shape and the texture of the edge which makes it feel both subtle and a statement'. Java is currently writing her fascinating life story on her own blog over on her website, which includes a lot of mother-daughter adventures!

Stuck for present ideas? Check out the other makers coming up in the blog and see their jewellery picks on the homepage.
